why Almajiri

Almajiri children are part of a traditional Islamic education system prevalent in northern Nigeria, where young boys are sent to live with Islamic teachers, or Alaranmas, to study the Quran. While this system has deep historical and cultural roots, it often leaves these children without access to formal education and essential life skills. Many Almajiri children miss out on basic literacy, numeracy, and vocational training, making it difficult for them to thrive in a today's society.

The Almajiri Literacy Program integrates modern formal education with the traditional Almajiri system, providing comprehensive educational resources, qualified educators, and a nutrition program to Almajiri children in Nigeria. This initiative aims to bridge the educational gap, ensuring these children receive a well-rounded education and essential life skills

our approach

Educational Resources

We provide tailored educational materials, including textbooks, workbooks, and digital resources, to meet the specific learning needs of Almajiri children. Our curriculum is designed to enhance literacy, numeracy, and critical thinking skills.

Qualified Educators

Our team comprises dedicated teachers and volunteers who are trained to deliver effective and engaging lessons. These educators understand the cultural and social contexts of the Almajiri children, enabling them to connect with and inspire their students.

Feeding Program

Hunger and malnutrition are significant barriers to education. Our weekly feeding program ensures that children receive nutritious meals, which not only support their physical health but also improve their concentration and willingness to attend classes regularly.

hygiene education

we recognize that good hygiene practices are fundamental to a child’s overall well-being and their ability to learn effectively. The hygiene component of our Almajiri Literacy Program is designed to instill healthy habits and ensure a clean and safe learning environment for every child. By addressing hygiene, we aim to reduce the incidence of illness and absenteeism, thereby enhancing the children’s ability to attend classes regularly and perform better academically.
